About The San Diego Chapter

Ruhaan Rajesh, a junior from Rancho Bernardo High School in San Diego, California, serves as the president of the San Diego Chapter of the Chicago Student refugee coalition. After being given the opportunity to participate in recognizing and supporting the refugee community, he knew he had discovered a cause he was finally passionate about; one that he was determined to pursue. Ruhaan knew this initiative would be perfect in San Diego, as he has first-handedly witnessed the abundance of refugee and marginalized youth his whole life. At Rancho Bernardo High School, Ruhaan yearns to be a participating and considerate student, participating in clubs such as National Honors Society, California Scholarship Federation, Robotics, and RBHS Helping Hands; additionally, he loves being a part of the Track and Field team. Outside of his school, he loves to share his talent of Piano and explores his enthusiasm for engineering, serving as an intern for BioEngineering at UCSD. In the future, Ruhaan looks to major in the Engineering field, and hopes to keep impacting lives and being an active member of the community

Aryasb Kont, a senior at Rancho Bernardo High School, serves as the Manager of Finances for NSRC. He joined NSRC because he believes in empowering students to create meaningful change in their communities through leadership, collaboration, and service. In the future, he hopes to study business and finance in college and pursue a career in investment management or entrepreneurship, helping businesses and individuals achieve long-term financial success.

 Xavier Oliver is a senior at RBHS who serves as the Manager of Expansion of SDSRC. To him, being a part of SDSRC means doing his part to help do his part to educate others and support marginalized groups, and sees helping out in SDSRC as a meaningful way to make a difference and improve the community around him. After high school Xavier plans to continue his studies in California focusing on biology or cellular biology along a pre-med track.

Elijah Webb, a Senior at Rancho Bernardo High School, serves as the Manager of Internal Affairs of NSRC. He is a part of NRC because he loves working hard for the good of others, and the mission of creating a welcoming environment in America for underprivileged populations is an amazing opportunity to better the community. In the future, Elijah hopes to pursue Mechanical Engineering at a 4 year University in order to help others using creativity and innovation.

Gavin Stewart, a senior at Rancho Bernardo High School, serves as the manager of donations of NSRC.I am a part of NSRC because I want to give back to my community and help out people who are less fortunate than me. I would like to attend a 4 year college in California and hopefully further my education and baseball career 

Vishnu Iyengar, a Senior at Rancho Bernardo High School, serves as the Manager of External Expansion of NSRC. This mission means a lot to him because it allows him to give back to the community. He would like to study Bio medical engineering in the future. 

Jackson Chanthabandith, Senior at Rancho Bernardo High school, will serve as the manager of volunteer coordination. Jackson is apart of NSRC because he wants to contribute to his community, especially because he has an abundance of low-income and immigrant peers. He hope to be an entrepreneur in the future, as he would love to study business 

Aaran Chahal, a Junior at Rancho Bernardo High School, serves as the Manager of Visual Design of NSRC. He shapes how the coalition looks and communicates, because a feeling of belonging often starts with feeling like someone built a space with you in mind. He hopes to study engineering in college, using design and building to turn hard problems into real help for people.

Kaleab Betre is a junior at Rancho Bernardo High School, serving as the Secretary of the Executive Board in the San Diego chapter of the Chicago Student Refugee Coalition (CSRC). Kaleab dabbles in a variety of productive activities such as participating in the National Honor Society and the California Scholarship Federation. He is also involved in Varsity Cross Country, Soccer, and Track & Field for his school. When he came across the CSRC, and their plan in adding a chapter in San Diego, he knew he was destined to be a part of it. Moved by the cause and dedicated in aiding the youth integrate into the new community and lifestyle, he is one of the many passionate members of this program.
